CHIROPRACTIC ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION
Let’s jump right into it, shall we? We like to keep fast-paced, energetic and moving around here! We’re a Chiropractic practice in Kingswood, South Australia and we have your dream job waiting for you…
Want to use your natural gifts as a communicator and bringer-togetherer-of people? Want to enrol people into an environment, space and health philosophy that you know will change their life?
Want to get paid to chat with people, support them and genuinely get to know their dreams, goals and desires for their health and life?
We are hiring a Chiropractic Assistant to engage and connect with the people we currently see, as well as potential clients out in the community. This role involves outreach, high-quality service, administration tasks and supporting people through their journey of Chiropractic care and a wellness-focused life.
We’re looking for you if:
- You’re the sort of person who loves to chat about the things you learn, and the things that have changed your life, and you want to tell allll of your friends about why they need it in their life.
- You’re a listener. You genuinely care about other people’s lives, getting to know them and supporting them to reach their own goals. The thrill of people achieving cool stuff makes you want to jump out of bed in the morning!
- You know that being of service is engaging and rewarding, you are willing to learn and experience new ways of doing things and you have a fire in your belly to make an impact on this world.
- You have an attention to detail and can buy into an established vision and culture, you are down-to-earth, relatable and authentic. You just love life and take notice of what you need to do to love it a little bit more every day.
We may be biased, but we think we have the coolest, most uplifting and inspiring place of work, ever. Filled with profound awakenings and infinite possibilities, we really believe we are changing the world one adjustment at a time – that’s a cool thing to be part of!
That said, it’s not all sunshine and puppy dogs… we have some good news for you AND some less good news for you.
So let’s get the bad news out of the way first:
- Our hours may start out a little weird as you transition into the role. You’ll start with 6-10 hours and we will be looking to grow and expand this role with your support. We tend to do 3-5 hour shifts so you will start with 2 shifts per week (it’s actually good news for those of you who do not suit a 9-5 role… that’s not really our jam either, lifestyle matters!) BUT we do need some flexibility. So if you wanted to squeeze in a side-hustle and 6 other jobs, this is no longer the ‘coolest job in the world’ for you. Our current shifts ready to be filled are our Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.
- Your on-the-job training may start as online videos and chats, which may be challenging for the type of person we’re looking for… the person who wants to jump in and start getting to know everyone and is excited about their new role! We’re hoping that given the Zoom Era you’ll be able to understand this. Oh wait, I found another silver-lining – it’s perfect for someone who is finishing up their previous job and wants to start learning their new job in their own time (evenings and weekends).
- We are open at strange hours. We start at 7am and finish at 6pm-ish, BUT we have a 3-4 hour break in the middle of the day (nap time or lunch dates anyone?).
- We have a bit of a time deadline. We don’t have a lot of flexibility on a start date. We need someone ready to go by the middle of May! We told you we move fast…
- You’ll have to park on the street. I mean, you’ll get to admire the neighbourhood on your 100m walk to the practice, but unfortunately it’s no replacement for your weekend hikes.
- We do expect flexibility and commitment to the practice. Whilst we understand family life and other schedules, we also spend a lot of time supporting and training our team members so it makes it very tricky to get someone to fill in at short notice.
So let’s look at the good stuff!
- You’ll be part of a fun and dynamic team, working alongside different Chiropractors and other Chiropractic Assistants, and involved in many aspects of the way we run our practice. We believe everyone is innately intelligent and has their own superhero strengths – we want to give you a chance to let yours shine. Yours will help balance our team so that we can all collectively achieve great things.
- We aren’t that big on stress. After all, we are regularly adjusted by our Chiropractors! Whilst we do expect high standards of work, precision, efficiency and care-factor, we also value effective communication and having the systems in place that mean we can get things done right the first time.
- Your life is important to us. We want to get to know your partner, children or other family members. We want you to thrive not only AT work, but in your life. We are clear on boundaries, but we know you are a whole person, not just a worker. We would love you to be part of the local community or within a 20 min drive of our practice.
- You will experience, see and be part of amazing things in your time with us that you’d never get in a big, stuffy, corporate workspace. This role is a combination of a support role, admin role and sales role BUT we don’t like jolty or compartmentalised jobs either so we’ll help you find an aligned and common vision to bring these aspects together to help your role flow more smoothly. You’ll have the opportunity to help us make decisions, and work on creative processes and our more detailed tasks – we value the voice of our whole team. You’ll also meet some incredible people through your everyday interactions!
- Your views and intrapreneurial drive are welcomed. We love our team members keeping each other accountable and on purpose, so there is no hierarchy around here. Just specific roles and an aligned vision to support each other’s work and creativity.
- You don’t have to run our business! Many have been burned by this in small business before. We have strong leadership, values, culture and purpose already, so while we love your input on this, you get the freedom to contribute without having the pressure of actually running your own business or building an empire. This job is for you if you’re not wanting to build your own business and you love the support of a like-minded team to just be yourself.
- You don’t need to be skilled at ropes courses, dress-up days, attending inspiring seminars, fancy balls or belting out Total Eclipse Of The Heart in a Karaoke room, but you will likely do all of those things in your time here. We love to do things like this a few times a year.
- You will be part of a focused and committed team. We have weekly team meetings and monthly team training sessions. Growth (personally and professionally) is our vibe!
Now let’s chat a bit more about the job requirements:
- You must be the sort of person who has the patience to allow things to be considered by the team and aligned with our purpose, values, systems and procedures, but then also the sort of person who gets things done. Each shift you will have a list of stuff to complete. Fun stuff. Important stuff. Necessary stuff.
- You’ll be working with computers, iPads, new programs and social media. An understanding of computers, social media, email, navigating the web and other technological things is necessary. You’ll also need to be able to quickly pick up the specific clinical programs that we use, with the training we provide.
- You’ll be on the phone and talking with people face-to-face a lot, so you must enjoy engaging with people and working with the Chiropractor for the best way to support people with their care.
- You must be the sort of person who loves delivering exceptional service to the people we see – going above and beyond to make their experience in our practice enjoyable, and for our shifts to flow smoothly.
- You need to rock the details. We’ve learnt this one the hard way! Rushing through something and doing it half-assed doesn’t help anyone – allow yourself to slow down and get things right. And THEN make sure you’re being efficient and effective with your role.
- If you’re not the life of the party, that’s ok. In fact, it’s perfect. It’s important that this job is taken seriously, that the people we see are important to you and that you are relatable and caring with them. But a sense of humour does help around here! We take the Chiropractic care that we provide SO seriously, that we get a little crazy if we don’t joke around every now and then.
- You must be the sort of person who loves to learn and chat about their experiences (and be aware of social cues for when the time is right) as this role will also involve some community outreach and marketing.
In short, your role is to cover 4 main areas: care for the people we see, administration tasks, team commitment and community outreach. And of course, have fun! Who wants to be in a boring position?!? Our office is casual and yet we expect professionalism, high levels of service and punctuality.
What we don’t expect is perfection. We’re anti-perfection. We expect intelligence, energy, common-sense, honesty, a great attitude and a coachable personality (open to feedback). When you have questions, we’ll firstly make sure you don’t already have the answer within you (that’s so annoying when people turn it back on you, isn’t it?!) and then we’ll support you to get the answer. We don’t expect existing skills – we will provide a full training program to learn everything you need to know here.
You are not expected to know anything about Chiropractic already but are expected to be willing and ready to learn about it in depth.

If this is a position that gets you so excited that you’d do it for free, we are open to that. If you prefer compensation (we also get that… we prefer to get paid for what we do too) here’s the offer:
– Casual position starting at $32/hour (lower starting rate for training and 3 month probationary period)
– Position to move to permanent for the right person as the role grows (open to salary or PPT)
– 6-10 hours/week to begin with (moving towards 15 hours)
– Available on Friday afternoons 2.30pm-6pm and Saturday mornings 8.30am – 12pm with the potential to further cover shifts during the week if needed.
In addition to being a detailed person, you must follow systems and procedures. We find procedures super exciting because it allows us to live with freedom and flow! Everything runs so much more smoothly and we have more time for the fun stuff! In fact, just to prove you can do this, when you apply for this position please put “I think you’re my crew” in the subject line. Yep, that’s our little trick to sort the people who blanket send resumes to anyone and everyone, from the real deal (that’s you!) who are truly interested.
To apply, send an email to harriet@thechirocrew.com.au telling us a little bit more about yourself and why you’re interested in the position, as well as your cover letter and resume.
We can’t wait to meet you!
